Abstract: The main stakeholders in oral risk management are ``Ordinary people living their daily lives'', (``seikatsusya'' in Japanese), and dentists. The mutual awareness and understanding of oral risk management are supposed to be the indispensable bases to improve dental and oral health treatment quality. This study aims to examine their views of oral health and oral risk management to generate their mutual awareness and understanding. The authors conducted interviews with seikatsusya and dentists. We analyzed all their narratives with KeyGraph (which is a text mining tool), extracted the keywords, and enumerated the key concepts. Then, we arranged these key concepts by KJ method or affinity diagram, which is a brainstorming tool for organizing a large number of ideas into their natural relationships. Through this analysis, the authors obtained the similarities and differences between the views of oral health and oral risk management of Japanese seikatsusyas and those of dentists. It is probable that taking notice of these similarities and differences contributes to better oral risk communication and management. In addition, this study revealed that it is feasible to apply a combination of KeyGraph and the KJ method.
