Abstract: The results of a literature study on white collar / office productivity are presented. Traditional methods regarding the measurement of productivity in an office environment have focused on the efficiency rather than the effectiveness (quality, timeliness) aspects of the office. McDonald & Conrath's concept of total office productivity includes both aspects. Although this method can be considered as the first real attempt to measure office productivity in a comprehensive way, much work must be done to operationalize the given methodology.
