Abstract: An approach is outlined for successful transformation of
organizations. This approach builds on the premise that when efforts
to implement change fail, a common cause is insufficient attention to the
people side of change. The concept of people change levers is
introduced and discussed. One of these levers, culture, is discussed
in depth and a business case is used to illustrate the importance of
understanding how work cultures shape individual and group
behaviors. A five-phase process to achieve change is introduced.
