Japan vs. USA: A Comparison of Corporate Environments and Characteristics

Abstract: Much of the current literature deals with what might be described as the mystique of Japanese management theory and practice. Other authors prefer to bring the focus to bear on those Japanese techniques that might be borrowed and/or adopted for American applications. The purpose of this paper is to help identify the basic differences between Japan and the U.S.A. with respect to corporate environments and characteristics.
