The meaning of truth in the systems age*

Abstract: The meaning and search for truth are surveyed to reflect shifts in emphases and trends of the last four-hundred years. The contributions of the systems movement to the concept of truth are discussed. While notions of epistemology and of philosophy of science are involved, a pragmatic and down-to-earth approach to the meaning of truth is taken.
