Abstract: The paper defines the scientific revolution which is taking place in the contemporary world as a search for alternative paradigms to the technocratic normal science. It is argued that a holistic and pluralistic approach to science is indispensable to grasp the problematique of the contemporary society. Such a scientific revolution cannot succeed without the organization of a dialogue among different paradigms. This dialogue should include a new methodology based on the recognition of the political dimensions of scientific inquiry. The contribution of non-western models, such as the tripolar approach and tetralemma are proposed as valuable alternatives to the formalistic approach of western science.
