The following features of the Manila project are briefly described: evolutionary background; programmes and activities; development of teaching aids and facilities, distribution of teaching aids and information technology transfer; characteristics of participants in the course; fellowships provision; admission requirements; faculty development programmes; project management including institutional framework, and mechanisms for feedback and monitoring.
