Abstract: The advent of microcomputers has made it possible to introduce into the curriculum of library and information science many elements of information science and computer science previously taught descriptively. The results of a survey of the accredited library education programmes in the United States indicate the increasing use of microcomputers in library education, and lead to predictions of even greater use in simulations of systems, programming library applications, statistical analysis of research results, management information systems and tutorial writing.
