On 30 October 2018 Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden, organized a Digital Humanities Day. Initiated by iInstitute, iSchool at Linnaeus University (LNU) (https://lnu.se/en/iinstitute), and its Digital Humanities Initiative (https://lnu.se/en/digihum), the Digital Humanities Day was organized in collaboration with the LNU University Library and supported by LNU Faculty of Arts and Humanities and DARIAH-EU. DARIAH-EU (https://www.dariah.eu) is a pan-european infrastructure for arts and humanities scholars working with computational methods which support digital research as well as the teaching of digital research methods. The aim of the event was to present DARIAH-EU to Swedish audiences as well as to engage in discussions related to possible engagement with DARIAH-EU at a national level. This has built on an earlier meeting held at the Swedish National Data Service, University of Gothenburg, on 21 February 2018, which brought together representatives from over a dozen Swedish academic institutions that expressed interest in joining DARIAH-EU as a full national member (https://lnu.se/en/research/searchresearch/digital-humanities/meeting-gothenburg-feb-21-2018/).
The key guest to the Digital Humanities Day was Frank Fischer, Associate Professor for Digital Humanities at the Higher School of Economics, Moscow, and co-director of DARIAH-EU. Apart from his talk on the topic of DARIAH-EU, Frank presented his own research on digital perspectives for the study of European Drama. The lecture on the whats, hows and whys of DARIAH-EU was filmed. The video recording as well as slides for the talk entitled “Masks and Interfaces – Digital Perspectives for the Study of European Drama” are both available at the event’s website, https://lnu.se/en/meet-linnaeus-university/current/events/2018/Digital-Humanities-Day/.
