The impact of information technology on information science: implications for courses in the UK

Abstract: This paper discusses technological developments such as the use of microcomputers, satellite communication and online systems which are likely to have a great impact on information science in the next few years. The implications for the information profession are considered and it is argued that information science courses must adapt to take account of the new skills required by the professionals of the future.
